Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

Sunday morning: nice Bible Study and Church Service.

Sunday dinner at a local eatery.

Sunday afternoon nap.

Phone rings.

My First Wife: H’lo.

Son from Atlanta: Hey Mom, it’s Mike.

MFW: Hi, son!

Mike: We’re thinking of coming over.

MFW: What do you mean?

Mike: We’re in town. We want to come over for the evening.

MFW: Who’s we?

Mike: All of us. The whole family.

MFW: Why are you in town?

Mike: I’ll explain it later, but our goofy Georgia governor closed the schools for a couple of days…

My First Wife and I had a great Sunday surprise! Our son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandsons took advantage of a couple of free school days and flew out to spend a few hours with us. They’re spending the rest of the time with Our First Daughter nearby. All the little cousins can run around and knock things over together. Sounds like a great day off from school, if you ask me.

We had a delightfully noisy afternoon and evening. We didn't have all that much to pick up after they left.

I love surprises—especially when three grandboys are involved!

Advice to parents: raise your kids to be airline pilots (free rides) who marry good-looking doctors.
