Adventures in the Dark of the Night

A wonderful mystery occurred last night.

Yesterday after work I drove past a city park. I took a casual look while I was waiting at the stop light. After some recent good rains, everything looked clean and green. Adults walked along the paths. Kids scrambled about the playground equipment. Pets romped on the grass. It was a typical evening in a pretty neighborhood park.

This evening—24 hours later—I went walking in that park. During the night one of the trees turned fully and brilliantly red. How did it do that?

We won’t have to hunt for red October this year. Awesome.
