The Lovely Heart of America

It’s been quite a while since I walked more than a mile or so. Walked over five miles today and it sure felt good. The weather was perfect here in the Heart of America and the trail was easy. I accidentally snapped a few photos. Thought you’d enjoy.

These horses were eating breakfast. They are part of a tourist attraction. Later in the day, they and two others will pull a stagecoach for the tourists that come to this historic old farmstead. It’s a neat place.
This goes into my Fence Folder.

This bull, in the same pasture as the horses, was hurrying off to greener pastures.

I was gonna stop for lunch, but I didn’t have one.

My trail went behind a couple of attractive neighborhoods. I liked this little pond; wanted to stay, but…

This cool setup is going into my Benches Folder.

And this old fence/gate will also go into my Fence Folder.

My next walk is scheduled for mid-September. It's either seven or nine miles one way. Wanna come along? We'll walk along a fast creek and then get involved with the Kansas River. We'll be back in town in time for dinner.

Nice bull. I can't walk seven miles one way at the moment. Just working on 40 - 50 minute walks right now. As a matter of fact I'm trying to pry myself out of the house right now.

I walk that far or more in a day but it is just going around the outside of the house carrying dirt and rock and mulch and wheelbarrows and milkweed for the Monarchs that have exploded here in late August. How's that for a run on sentence!? ;)

Sounds lovely. I am waiting for this heat to break to get back to working up to a 5 mile run.

How ironic, I was just reading one of my old blog entires where you left a message saying you had plans to walk cross country. So I come to your blog and you have an entry about walking!

When you do your walk, you must left me know. We will have to keep an eye out for you on our travels.

Blessings to you
Diane

Enjoyed the walk. I hardly broke a sweat! Wish we had brought lunch, though.
