30 Days of Gratitude, Day 20

Today I am grateful for Books.

I have been to outer space and into dungeons. I’ve been so tense I couldn’t sleep and so relaxed I couldn’t stay awake. I’ve learned about writing—and re-writing. I watched wars get fought and wagon trains ant across the prairies. I’ve seen the words of Billy Graham and Elmer Gantry. I followed submarines and helicopters; runaway trains and runaway horses. I have learned answers and found redemption. I have found questions and discovered possibilities. I have followed my father’s footsteps and I've kept one eye open for Wild Things.

All of this in the comfort of my own home. I should read more. Because books are so freely available.
