Adventures with Bad Numbers

This being the last day of the month, I had to hurry to my Weight Watchers® meeting. I stepped up on the scale—and decided never to eat again!

I gained seven pounds in the past seven weeks! What in the werl? I felt like crying. I thought I was a pretty good boy on Thanksgiving, and I was, but this tragedy didn’t happen overnight. I vaguely remember gobbling up about a pint of Peppermint Ice Cream a few times. I accidentally kept eating oversized portions of popcorn. It wasn’t my fault, but I consumed two slices of bread with real butter and honey—every evening meal. There was a time or two that I absentmindedly emptied a bag of corn chips. Oh, and last Saturday night we reluctantly went to a birthday bash…

I felt so hurt and disappointed in myself today, that I walked out the Weight Watchers® door and didn’t look back till I’d walked 3.1 miles. Unfortunately, I probably only burned off about 10 calories. But perhaps if I walk that far every day for the next 31 days. Whatcha think?

My current weight is 180 pounds. I don’t want to weigh 180 pounds. I want to weigh 165 pounds. I’m willing to wager 15 bucks that I can lose 15 pounds between now and January 1, 2010.  If I don't reach that goal, I'll give you my book, Just Seven Blocks from the Mexican Border. If I do, you get to buy one (and it will be autographed). Anybody wanna challenge me?

Please.

I will sign on for the challenge. I am lucky that I walk several miles a day on my job doing security.

At least you are facing this head on. That's what it's all about.

If you stick with the WW plan (and maybe cut out some carbs while you're at it), I bet you can do it!

I know you can do it! I always tell everyone, if you own a scale (AND USE IT) you'll lose weight and keep it off! It's what keeps me in line. :)
