Still Snowbound

Here are four photos I took within 20 seconds this morning about 10:30. I would have taken a few more but it was cold out there, hunny. This is one of my favorite places to walk--So-Ko-Par Trails Park in Kansas. I can walk more than three miles on the trails in this big family park. But not right now, though. The lake is frozen solid (it's about 150 yards long) and the trails are under six inches of snow. But there is hope: see the shadows? Created by sunlight.

The little red sign says, "Unsafe Ice. Keep Off." And that "2"-shaped item in the first three photos is a metal sculpture. I think it represents a playful Loch Ness Monster. Little kids climb on it and it's a popular place for photos.

You can click each photo to enlargify. Then click your Back button to return.

Just for fun, here's a photo of the same area that I took early last spring. A hint of things to come.

While the snow is pretty, the older I get, the more I like Spring :)

Wow! I wouldn't know WHERE to walk without being on the ice.... hard to see where the ground ends and the water begins. We are supposed to be balmy today.... and we just might make it... for a change... the high is forecast to be 50. But it is 1PM and it is 45...hmm... it might not. Usually by two or three the temps are on their way back down.

But... no snow or ice here right now.... I bought a snow shovel this week. That should prevent any more snow from falling this season. ;)

Great shots! I'd like to see lots of shots of that same area when the landscape is green, not white. We've had a LOT of snow here, and I'm ready for warmer weather.
