One Day More...

There are some evenings that will linger in our minds and lives till the day we die. Little League Championships, graduations, weddings, births. Those sorts of things are only natural, but once in awhile an evening sneaks up on you and lifts you up from the most unlikely places.

Like TV.

Sunday night, My First Wife and I got caught up in four hours of mighty fine television.

First, we ran across a new show called “Secret Millionaire.” Danny Johnson (Dannie?) was the star of this edition. She’s a self-made millionaire who went back to her roots (homelessness) and shared some of her $$$ with “helping/sharing” services in Knoxville TN. It was touching, uplifting, inspirational and refreshing TV.

Right behind that was “Undercover Boss.” The mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio donned a wig and facial hair to visit his city workers undetected. He’s a man who appears to have a heart. It was a heart-warming show this week.

And then—surprise! “Les Misèrables!” We love “Les Misèrables!” We found it on PBS. It was the 25th Anniversary edition and was it ever great! Did you get to see it? There are things that echo in your mind all through the years. The music of Les Miz is one of those things for me. I could listen to it day after day after day.

I have a feeling that this evening will rank among the most enjoyable we ever spent at home together. Do you think...One Day More?

I cannot stand any of those reality programs because I believe they are fictional scripted drivel and they make me very uncomfortable. Maybe I would like “Les Misèrables!” so I can't say we would be that far off the mark. I might be the only person who has never seen it. But it does make me happy that you and your first wife can find enjoyment watching anything together for four hours.

I caught part of Les Miz..... but not the names of the four Jean Valjeans that were singing. We saw it on Broadway in 1995 when one of my brother's friends who had been Piangi in Phantom was playing Jean Valjean. He showed us backstage props and Nyssa got to try and walk on that stage with the moving circular center. I doubt he was included in the program though.

I'm glad you and your wife enjoyed four hours of TV. So much on TV is not enjoyable that it's nice that you were able to find four hours in a row of good stuff!

Little Isabelle is precious!!!!!

I saw that Les Miserables was going to be on PBS, but haven't seen it. I was watching the Celtic Women, which I love! I'd love to see them in person. Their music is so pretty and peaceful.

Congratulations to all on the birth of Isabella Rae!! A real beauty is right!!!

I've seen the broadway production of Les Miserables twice and my daughter has the soundtrack on her Ipod. We are definitely fans.

It is RARE that my husband and I sit down and watch television together. It would be memorable for us as well.

I saw that Les Miserables on PBS... it was pretty good for a concert. We got to see it on Broadway when Jean Valjean was played by Don Cook. Don traveled with my brother in Phantom of the Opera for several years and then he got Jean Valjean in the traveling company of Les Miz and then did a few months on Broadway. He took us backstage to see everything and that rotating stage.. amazing.. I don't see how the actors kept from falling. Nyssa was 9.. she was most impressed that the main star of the show ate dinner with us.

We do watch the boss and millionaire. I have a few problems with the latter but I watch it sometimes.
I think I've slept thru Les M twice but hope to watch it someday.
