My Favorite Cuban Redhead

Today I mailed something to Ily. She’s my favorite Cuban redhead who helped me with Español in the book I wrote.  I like Ily for three reasons.

First, she knows how to draw so that's an automatic “Oh, I like you.”
Second, she’s a great blogger who I'd really like to meet.
Third, she conceived an excellent art project for ten of us bloggers. Bless 'er heart! The project is called 10 in '10 (with several variations).

It goes like this: ten of us (including her) signed up to participate. Then we all bought a sketchbook and arted on the first page (or two). Today, we each mailed our book to an artist in the group. In a few days I’ll receive a book from someone in the group. I’ll art something on the next blank page (or two) of that sketchbook and mail it on. Everybody will be doing the same thing at the same time until we've placed some personal art in each book. Theoretically, we’ll have 10 (or so) pages of exceptional art when our personal book returns to us. Then we’ll have a coffee table book.

You didn’t know I was an artist, didja? But it was all I could do to keep from photographing my book and posting it. Well, I’m gonna do you a favor when I get mine back: I’ll photo all the pages at once and post them then. Whatcha think?

Better yet. When I get Ily’s book (I think it will be my last one), maybe My First Wife and I can take a trip to her house and present her book in person.

And fourth, she serves red wine. It'll be worth the trip.

Important Note Department: We should be all finished in October. Hang on; stay tuned.

I love me some Illy, too ! I didn't volunteer to draw because my drawing sucks serious ass. I consider it doing her a favor that I stayed out of that one.

I probably should have, but I know my time restraints and my muse has not been all that helpful as of late and of course with the weather my thoughts turn to other things, like...
Gardening!

That sounds like fun! Back in the 70's a friend and I did the same type of thing with a small book that we wrote poetry or quotes in and passed back and forth to each other.

Hooray Paul! I like the idea of waiting until the project end to post our pictures. I was thinking about posting my first one after I knew it had been received by Valeria but now I'm pretty sure I'll wait until the end.

What a wonderful idea, Paul! A few years back several writer friends and I wrote stories together. We'd each write so many words and then pass it on and all the stories were in different genres - I was REALLY bad at the "Horror", so I used my portion to contribute some comic relief. 'Twas tremendously fun!

Hopefully I'll do a better job of staying tuned in so I can see the final project.

Pablito, my friend, you are much too kind. You act as though I were the only Cuban redhead in the world...and I'm one of millions, trust me (at least in this town!). :)

Thank you for participating in what I feel will be a fun and exciting project. We've already inspired each other quite a bit, haven't we?

I'm looking forward to receiving your book later this week and seeing what you've come up with!

Hugs and ♥ to you and your first wife! I can't wait to share the bottle of red with both of you!

Salud.

Sounds like a great trip - and the red wine takes it over the top.

You've explained it all so well I'm just going to direct people over here instead of trying to do so myself. LOL! Oh please do post pictures when you get it back! I've been posting photos of my 'arted' pages (I love that!) each time. And did you note how October is the 10th month? How perfect is that?
